MR&MRS letters behind wedding tables with flower arrangements

We recently provided illuminated letters for the beautiful wedding of Alyce and Chris, who were married at Hever Castle in Kent on 17th June. The 13thcentury castle has a rich history that was the childhood home of Anne Boleyn, and it makes the perfect elegant venue for a fairy-tale wedding. Once the happy couple returned from their honeymoon, we interviewed newly-wed Alyce to find out more about her big day.

What time of the year did you get married?

“We got married on 17th June and it was one of the hottest days of the year in the UK. We were very lucky as the weather was lovely with plenty of beautiful sunshine.”

Please tell us your story.

“Me and Chris met at university where we very good friends, but when I was 19 Chris left the UK to move to Dubai. It was then when I was 20 that I moved to Dubai to be with Chris and we started our new life together in a new country.”

“The proposal happened on a Tuesday night (which is our date night!) when we went to a restaurant called 101 which is out in the middle of the water with stunning panoramic views of the New Dubai skyline.”

“We left the restaurant and walked over a bridge which looks out over the Marina, where he then got down on one knee and proposed! Afterwards, we went to a bar called Siddartha Lounge, where I was surprised by all of our friends who were there with balloons and champagne!”

What was your inspiration in terms of the style and feel of your wedding?

bride and father in front of mr and mrs light up sign“I wanted everything very girly and princess! I originally went for duck egg blue as the colour scheme, but this changed a year into planning the wedding and in the end we went for pink, lilac and some blue as well.”

Alyce and Chris chose our illuminated ‘MR & MRS’ lights to complement their fairytale theme.

How did your wedding reflect your personalities and personal style?

“We wanted a young feel to the wedding as I was 25 and Chris 28. The pink girly theme definitely suited my personality, and Chris was happy with whatever I wanted, so it all worked out well!”

Your advice/tips for couples who are planning a wedding?

“Work together as a team and try not to argue over small things. But even if you do, it doesn’t matter because it is all worth it in the end. It was honestly the best day of our lives, but be prepared that you may need to go over your original budget because things can work out a lot more expensive than you think.”

What made you choose your venue?

“I liked the idea of a princess fairytale wedding and it also had to be able to hold a lot of people as we invited 150 guests. We looked at 8 venues in total wh
en we travelled back to the UK, and when we visited Hever Castle we just knew it would be perfect! We actually booked the venue 2 years before the wedding to ensure we could have it for our big day.”

What’s the best memory of your wedding day?

bride and groom dancing in from of light up sign“The first dance was magical, and having everyone altogether is a rare occasion, so being with all our family and friends in one place meant the world to us as we still live in Dubai. Also, seeing Chris when I walked down the aisle and realising all our stress, saving and hard work paid off and was worth it in the end.”

Three words to sum up your day?

“Unforgettable, amazing and filled with love.”

It’s been a little while since our last blog post – that’s because we have been so busy installing light up letters at all your fabulous wedding and events!  With our peak summer wedding season well under way, it seems as if we haven’t had a spare moment!

Creative venues:

One thing we really have noticed this year is the vast range of venue types our clients are choosing for their ceremonies and celebrations.  In the past month alone, we’ve installed letters in rustic barns, hip east London town halls, traditional Victorian gin palaces, hotels,  old schools and universities, castles and even a boat on the Thames!  It seems you are all getting so creative with your choice of venues! With so many now being licensed for weddings nowadays, there are virtually no limits.  You can truly allow your imagination to run wild.

We hope to feature a couple of our clients with more unusual venue choices in future blogs, but for now, here are a few memorable moments from recent weeks:

Initials looking grand at sumptuous venue Hampton Court House….Wedding initials set up at Hampton Court House with red curtain backdrop

and just look at this truly stunning marquee set-up below for a special lady’s birthday party…..

N&N intials set up at barn with cakeBride and groom had matching initials for this beautiful rustic barn wedding at Coltsfoot in Hertfordshire

…and a lucky little girl was treated to her initials and age in 5 foot lights!

University of Herts booked our letters again for the Vice Chancellor’s Awards ceremony at the Forum, Hatfield……

Anyway…….got to go for now – busy busy busy – back soon!

So we are now almost at the end of April and gearing up for our busy summer season!

In the last few weeks, our crew have been working hard installing letters at some delightful spring weddings, such as this one at the gorgeous Notley Abbey, near Aylesbury………….

and this one at the equally stunning Plaisterer’s Hall, in London……..

And ‘Wedding Letter Hire’ is not just for weddings! We’ve also been helping you spell out your names in lights! We spelt out ‘Caitlin’ for a very special teenager’s party and we think the letter lights look even better alongside these super cool ‘Bulgari’ sofas with monochrome scatter cushions, hired from our sister company Rio Lounge – the black and white theme looked so striking!

Don’t forget we also have numbers as well as as letters, so whether you’re celebrating 16, 60, 100 or anything inbetween – some gorgeous aluminium light up numbers may be just what you need for that special sparkling party centrepiece.

The daffodils are starting to bloom, the sun’s out, and at long last, we are starting to feel Spring-like at Wedding Letter Hire HQ!  We are so lucky to have open countryside surrounding our offices and to be able to look out of the window and see all the beautiful Spring colours emerging.

So, with Spring colours firmly in mind, we have been thinking of a few ways to use colour creatively at your wedding.  Here are a few of our ideas:

1. Light up Letters in Colour

Of course, naturally this is our number one choice!  We are pleased to announce that we can now offer the option of beautiful coloured bulbs in our letters, as well as our ever-popular classic white LED bulbs. You’ve chosen a colour theme for your flowers, bridesmaids, and tables, so why not match your letter lights too? We can cater for most colours, just ask!

Take a look at these that we installed recently, for a corporate customer who wanted letters in pink for a themed event…….and our ampersands, shown here in both traditional white, and contrasting purple!

2. Ribbons

Another way to add colour in a subtle yet effective way, is to use ribbons. Add ribbons in your theme colour everywhere!  Tie little ribbons around your wineglass stems, napkins and candleholders, anywhere you like.  This is a great way to add little touches of colour and detail.

3. Flowers

For table centrepieces with a difference, fill clear glass bowls with water and use food colouring to tint the water to your theme colour and float a few flower blossoms in each one. You could even add floating candles too to create even more of a magical glow!

4.The Wedding Cake

We have noticed that coloured ombre cakes still remain a firm trend, but to change it up a little, rather than going for a full ombre cake, why not go for a traditional white tiered cake, but just add ombre flowers.  We think this one is just stunning!

5. Scatter cushions

Another way to add a pop of colour to white chill-out furniture is with masses of brightly coloured scatter cushions.   Just look at the impact of these beautiful bright colours, from our sister company, Rio Lounge. www.riolounge.co.uk

February is here…… and we are feeling the love at Wedding Letter Hire HQ!

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and what could be a more romantic day to pop THE question to that special someone!

So, with proposals in mind, we did a quick mini- survey around the office to find out whether any of our staff had received ‘interesting’ marriage proposals.

We had various replies, including finding a ring in an advent calendar on Christmas Eve, being ‘surprised’ at a family meal…..and even someone who received a photo of a wedding altar on a text message (that one was unsurprisingly declined!!)

None of them beat this one though……a leap year proposal from last year…….what better way to propose than to spell out ‘MARRY ME’ in our 5 foot light up letters! (Oh…..and we are pleased to report he said yes!).

leaping

It’s really interesting that proposal planners, as well as wedding planners, are now big news.

Clearly, things have moved on a lot from the traditional diamond ring in a box over a candlelit meal.

We would love to hear from you if you want to show your love in lights as we still have some winter discounts running – please ask for details.

So…..December is here already, and we are now getting well into the swing of our busy Christmas party season here at Wedding Letter Hire HQ.
So what were the highlights for us this past month?

Well……we have been delivering LED wedding initials and ‘LOVE’ letters to some beautiful autumnal November weddings, such as this one at the grand and imposing Renaissance Hotel, St Pancras….don’t the bride and groom look amazing on the illuminated dance floor?

We also provided our marquee letters for this networking event for the National Association of Wedding Professionals (NAWP), at the Museum of St John, London, which as you can see from this image, is an absolutely stunning venue. Credit to Rupa Photography for the image below.

Wedding Letter Hire also lit up a charity event in aid of local Keech Hospice Care, a fantastic soul music night at St Joseph’s Club, Luton.  We were so happy to hear that the event raised a total of over £11,000 on the night – what an amazing result for this very worthy cause!

We were also very happy to receive this striking image of our 5 foot letter lights in action from our customer, Memories4U Weddings, who organised this awe-inspiring Thanksgiving event at the Hilton Hotel, Bankside, London.

We will be back with some more news soon but for now….bring on the Christmas parties and winter weddings!

The Summer wedding season is well and truly over,  but we are now embracing Autumn here at Wedding Letter Hire!  We were very excited to be asked to provide letters for the Telegraph Ski and Snowboard Show at London’s Battersea Evolution for the second year in a row.the-lodge

This exciting 4 day event, which took place this year during the school half term week from 27-30 October, is an absolute must for any winter sports enthusiast.  Featuring live ski shows from the purpose built ‘Mount Battersea’ – a 50 foot ski jump in the middle of Battersea Park, top-class comedy on the Altitude Stage, plus lots of exciting exhibitors including the very best in ski clothing and ski tour operators.

Visitors could also enjoy ice skating on the rink, and then sample some authentic Alpine cuisine, plus craft beers to wash it all down with!

This year our 5 foot aluminium LED letter lights could be seen illuminating the Alpine Restaurant (‘The Lodge’), as well as the bar (‘Apres Ski’)!  We think you will agree the letters create great impact and look absolutely fantastic (even if we do say so ourselves!)

michelle1At Wedding Letter Hire we love a bit of glitz and glamour and we know how our giant letters can really light up a venue for a dazzling event. So we were super excited when we were contacted to help fabulous fashion brand Lipsy to launch the new Michelle Keegan range, ‘Lipsy Love Michelle’.

Michelle is fast becoming an iconic fashion figure and has twice been voted bikini body of the year. Michelle made her name originally in everyone’s favourite soap Coronation Street and from there has gone on to star in the critically acclaimed ‘Our Girl’. She is also married to the gorgeous Mark Wright from The Only Way is Essex.

Michelle has been designing for Lipsy for a number of years now and it’s easy to see why her clothes are so popular. She aims to make looking glamorous as easy as possible and to help women dress in style this season. Whether it’s a warm winter coat or a jaw-dropping Christmas party dress Michelle’s collection has something for everyone!

We love Michelle’s range. It’s clear that she has a real flair for design and has said in interview that everyone should “wear what you feel comfortable in”. So it was a real honour to get asked to set up giant illuminated MK initials for her winter range launch event. The initials were placed on a high ledge so they really stood out and added the finishing sparkle to what was already a very glamorous event.

michelle2

The launch was held at the popular Nobu restaurant in London which serves a stunning range of innovative new style Japanese cuisine. It was the perfect location for a fashion launch and our illuminated initials were ideal for such a chic venue. As always we pride ourselves on working closely with our customers to ensure a smooth and efficient service, and unlike some other letter light providers we will deliver and collect from your venue so there’s no worry or hassle!

Michelle looked amazing on the launch night wearing glamorous black trousers teamed with a sassy lace detail cropped top. Her new collection aims to take you from desk to bar without a single pit stop and Michelle certainly showed how well her designs work.

We were lucky enough to get a brilliant photo of Michelle herself in front of our light up initials and we think you’ll agree that both Michelle and our letter lights look absolutely stunning!

Having a hen night is the traditional way to say good bye to life as a single lady before you settle down to married bliss! Over the past few years we have seen more and more innovative and exciting hen night ideas which have helped brides to be create some fabulous memories with their closest friends. Of course each hen night is as individual as the bride herself but if you are looking for some hen night inspiration here are some great ways to celebrate your last night of freedom.

Get Crafty

If a night out on the town isn’t your thing and you’d like to have a hen do where you learn something then why not consider a creative craft session with your girlfriends. From cupcake creations to still life drawing, pottery painting or even metalwork choosing a craft session is a really popular hen night option. The lovely thing about this idea is that you’ll also have something to take away with you at the end which will always be a memento of this occasion. Having a craft for everyone to focus on is also a great way to break the ice if you have a variety of friends attending who might not know each other.

Chill Out

Planning a wedding can leave you feeling pretty frazzled so a relaxing spa break can be the perfect way to relax and recuperate before your big day. Many spas offer brilliant hen night packages that include treatments, dinner and even a glass of bubbly whilst you chill out. Staying at a hotel also means that your friends can enjoy themselves without having to worry about getting home at the end of the night. A chilled out spa day is a real treat for the bride to be and is also a great idea if you are inviting older relatives along who might not be so keen on clubbing!

Action Adventure

If you like an adrenaline rush then why not splash out on an all action hen do. This is brilliant fun and will certainly get your wedding party bonding together. There are a whole range of both indoor and outdoor action options if you fancy getting active. Why not try a high ropes course or paintballing if you love the great outdoors. Alternatively if the weather is not looking good you could experience the thrill of indoor go-karting or fencing.

Special Touches

kellyWhatever option you choose don’t forget to add those special touches to your hen do to make it a really memorable occasion – and we’re not talking about a veil and L-plates! You could consider having a vintage ice cream van turn up at your venue to provide luxury ices to your hen party, or maybe you could all travel to your hen night in a limo.  Or why not hire out giant illuminated letters to spell out the hen’s name. They are a stunning centrepiece and will look great in your photos too.

We love hearing all about your hen do ideas so if you have any unusual or quirky hen night plans then let us know about it on our social media pages.
